Dinner and a Movie

I love to eat, cook and I love to dine out, but I'm not a huge fan of pizza, at least not every other night like some prefer.

In fact, most pizza restaurant (usually delivery or take-out) TV advertisements quell my desires to have a slice of pie. I always get this image of eating half a loaf of bread along with some poorly produced and prepared cheeses, meats, sauces and vegetables.

Almost everything I cook at home is fresh and I expect the same while dining out, short of the fast food restaurants, which I rarely visit.

But, I'm human like the rest of us. I occasionally like to cut corners and I do like a decent pizza without much work, but I don't wish to wait until some delivery guy shows up on the doorstep. So here's the answer.

Grab a DiGiorno pizza (usually thin crust) and add the following:
  • Fresh Parmesan cheese, rasped
  • 16 to 20 slices of olive (Spanish, Kalamata, Black)
  • 15 to 20 slices (crescent-shaped) of yellow or white onion
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Extra virgin olive oil drizzled over the pizza - equivalent to 2 tablespoons. This is the kicker that makes you feel like you are eating out.
DiGiorno Crispy Flatbread Pizza

Simple Salad
  • Romaine lettuce
  • Sliced cucumber
  • Red cabbage - sliced and chopped, not diced
  • Carrot - not cut, but using a vegetable peeler to produce thin slivers
  • Italian dressing or a vinagerette

Movie

O Brother, Where Art Thou?

This has to be one of the most entertaining and well produced movies ever, which most anyone should enjoy. It's also family friendly except for certain ages, perhaps - your call. Rated PG-13.

O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Enjoy!
